MILTON, Mass. – Senior captain Zach White (Milford, Conn.) of the Curry College men's ice hockey team has been selected as a semifinalist for the 19th annual Joe Concannon Award. This marks the second straight year White has been recognized as a semifinalist.
The Joe Concannon Award recognizes annually the best American-born player at the D-II/III level playing in New England. The award was established in 2001 after the passing of the longtime writer for the Boston Globe, who had a great passion for the game of college hockey while always advocating for amateur athletics.
White is one of eight student-athletes selected as semifinalists from the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC), the most of any conference on the list.
White currently leads the team with 31 points and 17 goals in 26 games. He also ranks second on the team with 14 assists. Over his four year career, the senior has played in 89 games, tallying 43 goals and 36 assists for 79 points.
The Gridiron Club Hockey Awards Selection Committee and Advisory Board will announce the finalist and winner of the 19th annual Joe Concannon Award in March, following conference tournaments and before the start of the Division III Frozen Four. The award will then be presented to the winner at the New England College Hockey Writers' Dinner in April.
