Football Tabbed Tied for Third in CCC Football Preseason Poll

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Curry College football team is predicted to finish in a tie for third place as determined by the Commonwealth Coast Football (CCC Football) Preseason Coaches' Poll, which was announced by the league office on Wednesday.

Western New England University checked in at the top spot in the poll with 48 points and six first-place votes. The Golden Bears have won three straight league titles, two in the New England Football Conference (NEFC) and the inaugural CCC Football Championship last season. Capturing the final first-place vote and 36 points overall is Salve Regina. Curry and Endicott are projected to finish in a tie for third with 35 points.

Nichols (19), Becker (15), and the University of New England (8) round out the bottom portion of the poll.

The Colonels opens the season with more than 50 new faces on the roster. The Colonels return two of their All-CCC Football Selections from a year ago in junior wideout Nick Villanueva (Hanson, Mass.). The lone returning All-CCC Football selection from a year ago comes from the defensive side of the ball in senior defensive back Joseph Patti (Woburn, Mass.) who landed on the Second Team Defense. Curry looks to improve in all three phases (offense, defense, special teams) and to improve their overall and conference records.

The Colonels begin the 2018 season on Friday, August 31 as they host Dean at 7:00 p.m.
