Cross Country Opens Season at Jim Sheehan Invitational

LEOMINSTER, Mass. - The Curry College men's and women's cross country teams opened their 2023 seasons by competing at the Jim Sheehan Invitation Saturday morning at the Doyle Conservation Area.

On the women's side, Curry's top finisher was junior Grayson Cheek (Wellesley, Mass.), who crossed the finish line in 15th place with a time of 26:00.9 on the 5k course. 

Senior Tori Carleton (Whitman, Mass.) was Curry's second finisher, placing 19th at 27:03.8. In her first collegiate race, sophomore Katie Courteau (Warroad, Minn.) was Curry's third athlete to cross the line, running a time of 29:41.3 to place 29th overall.

For the men's side, sophomore Alexander Nason (Easton, Mass.) was the top Curry finisher, placing 25th on the day with a run of 36:14.6 on the 8k course. Classmate Paul Alfonso (Northborough, Mass.) was not far behind for Curry, placing 29th at 37:07.3.

Junior Alex Jodoin (Woburn, Mass.) and senior Phil Shenkman (Simsbury, Conn.) placed 38th and 41st respectively to round out the Curry runners.

Next up for the Colonels, they will race in the Ron Ouellette Invitational next Saturday, hosted by the University of New England at Biddeford, Maine's Rotary Park.
