Women's Cross Country Places 8th at CCC Championships

BRISTOL, R.I. - The Curry College women's cross country team posted an 8th place finish among eight teams competing on Saturday at the Commonwealth Coast Conference Championship.

The Colonels were led by freshman Jessica Leary (Pembroke, Mass.), who finished in 60th place with a time of 28:22.  Other Colonel finishers were freshman Victoria Norton (Fairfield, Conn.), 29:50 (71st), freshman Melanie Berube (Beverly, Mass.), 29:56, (73rd), senior Kelly Johnson (Burlington, Mass.), 29:57, (74th),freshman  Joyce Simon (Pembroke, Mass.), 30:00, (77th), senior Amy Comeroski (Exeter, R.I.), 31:39, (89th), and sophomore Avery Struthers (Hamden, Mass.), 31:43 (90th).

Salve Regina University captured the championship in the team competition with a score of 35 points, while the University of New England (36 points) and Roger Williams University (71 points) finished as the respective runner-up and third place squads in the event.

Curry returns to action on Saturday November 5, heading to Williamstown, Mass., to compete in the ECAC Division III Championship at 11:00 a.m.
