Women's Volleyball Swept at Southern Maine Trimatch to Conclude 2021

GORHAM, Maine - The Curry College women's volleyball team saw its 2021 season come to a close on Saturday afternoon with 3-0 losses to Western Connecticut State and Southern Maine in a tri-match hosted by the Huskies. 

With the defeats, Curry's season concludes with an overall record of 11-16.

In Curry's opening match of the afternoon, Western Connecticut slid by the Colonels with set scores of 25-18, 28-26, 26-24. 

Curry had three players record at least eight kills, led by senior Faith Herity (River Edge, N.J.) with a season-high of nine. Herity reached nine kills with just two errors on 20 total attacks for an impressive attack percentage of .350. Classmates Lexi Pereira (Attleboro, Mass.) and Amanda Wood (Tokyo, Japan) each notched eight kills in the opener as well.

Herity was also Curry's defensive leader against Western Connecticut State with a team-high nine digs. Junior setter Brooke Reissfelder (Biddeford, Maine) dished out 30 assists in the defeat.

In the day's second match, Curry couldn't keep up with Southern Maine, who won the match by set scores of 25-18, 25-13, 25-13.

Pereira closed out her collegiate career with team-highs of 12 kills and seven digs in the loss. Wood had seven kills for the Colonels, while Reissfelder turned in her second strong performance of the day with 22 assists and six digs.
