Volleyball Falls to Wheaton and Smith at Hall of Fame Tournament

NORTHAMPTON, MASS. – The Curry College women's volleyball dropped their final two matches at the Hall of Fame Tournament hosted at Smith College. The Colonels opened the day with a 3-0 loss to Wheaton (25-16, 25-19, 25-8) and then closed the day with a straight set defeat to Smith, 3-0 (25-19, 25-9, 25-19). With the losses, Curry moves to 11-14 overall and 2-5 in conference play.

Match Two – Smith 3, Curry 0 (25-19, 25-9, 25-19)

The Pioneers won by set scores of 25-19, 25-9 and 25-19 to improve to 10-16 overall and 0-9 in league play. Elizabeth Peay (Lebanon, Conn.) led all players with 12 kills while Caleigh Johnson (Georgetown, Texas) and Xela Miller (Grenada Hills, Calif.) added 10. Jody Huang (Cranston, R.I) fueled the offense with nine assists. Sakura Tamaki (New York, N.Y.) led the way with nine digs.

Seven different Curry players recorded a kill in the contest. Nicole Rice (Woburn, Mass.) finished with nine kills. Grace Stafford was not far behind with five. Monica Wilkes (Franklin Lakes, N.J.) paced the Colonels with 18 assists while Courtney Carroll finished with 11 digs.

Curry will return home for their final regular season home game on Tuesday in Katz Gymnasium when they host Salve Regina at 6:00 p.m.
