Volleyball Notches First CCC Victory With 3-0 Sweep of Nichols

DUDLEY, Mass. – The Nichols College women's volleyball team suffered a 3-0 defeat to Curry College Wednesday night in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action at the Nichols Athletic Center.

The Colonels took games one and two by identical 25-17 scores before closing the match with a 25-11 triumph in game three.

Sophomore J'ena Baker (Rockledge, Fla.) registered a team-high nine kills to go along with 10 digs for the Bison. Classmate Jayla Simmons (Rockledge, Fla.) posted a team-high nine digs for NC while freshman Hayley Pichard (Hingham, Mass.) handed out 18 assists. Sophomore Megan Gardner (South Deerfield, Mass.) put up six kills, two digs, and one block solo.

Senior Nicole Rice (Woburn, Mass.) and junior Grace Stafford (West Yarmouth, Mass.) each tallied 10 kills for the Colonels. Stafford also led the team in digs with 15 while sophomore Monica Wilkes (Franklin Lakes, N.J.) was credited with 29 assists.

All-Time Series

Tonight's match marked the second all-time meeting between Nichols College and Curry College. The Colonels lead the series, 2-0.
