Comeback Falls Just Shy as Women's Volleyball is Edged By Suffolk, 3-2
MILTON, Mass. – Curry College came back from a two-set deficit, but fell 3-2 to visiting Suffolk University in non-conference women’s volleyball action Thursday evening in Milton. Set scores were 25-14, 25-15, 13-25, 22-25 and 15-7. The Rams improve to 10-16 while the Colonels fall to 4-17.

Suffolk took the first two sets comfortably by scores of 25-14 and 25-15. The Colonels responded with a resounding 12-point win in set #3. In the fourth set, Curry maintained a steady lead and held off a late Rams’ rally for a 25-22 victory. But Suffolk went on to control the deciding set, clinching the match with an eight-point win.

Senior Melissa Griffin (Byfield, Mass.) led the Rams with 17 kills and 14 digs. Sophomore Colbey Kennedy (Old Lyme, Conn.) recorded a game-high 27 digs. Classmate Sarah Argobast (Chesterfield, Mo.) had a game-high 20 assists, to go along with five kills and 11 digs. Sophomore Maggie Hillman (North Andover, Mass.) chipped in with 10 kills and 21 digs.

The Colonels were led by freshman Courtney DiBiasio (Coventry, R.I.) with 17 kills and 23 digs, both team highs. Junior Kendra LeMay (Chicopee, Mass.) contributed six kills and 11 digs. Classmate Kaitlyn Poirier (Acushnet, Mass.) dished out a team-high 19 assists, while also adding 12 digs and three block assists. Sophomore Jenna Butera (Norfolk, Mass.) had three kills, two block solos and two block assists.

Both teams play conference matches in their next outings, with Suffolk traveling to Johnson & Wales on October 25 (7:00 p.m.) and Curry visiting Western New England on October 26 (7:00 p.m.).
