Volleyball Pressures Lesley Before Falling 3-0

MILTON, Mass. – Despite a great team effort and two close matches, the Colonels were defeated by visiting Lesley University, 3-0, Tuesday night in Milton. Set scores were 25-14, 25-20 and 25-22. With the win, the Lynxs improve to 15-9 while the Colonels fall to 1-14 on the season.

Curry played a strong defensive game throughout the three matches.  Freshman Jenna Butera (Norfolk, MA) stood out for the Colonels on defense, playing solid all night.   Offensively, Curry leaned on the great serving of sophomore Jessica Crugnale (North Reading, MA) and freshman Katelyn Boutin(Longmeadow, MA) to keep the match close.  Boutin had 16 serv attempts and Crugnale had 12.

The third set of the night was Curry’s best.  The teams saw seven total ties during the match.  The Colonels came back from a six point deficit and took the lead before the Lynx regained their momentum and came back for the win.

Curry resumes action on October 27 when it travels Mass. Maritime for a 7:00 p.m. match.
