Strong Blocking Not Enough as Volleyball Drops a 3-0 Decision at Suffolk

BOSTON, Mass. - Despite a solid blocking effort against a strong Rams offense, the Colonels fell to Suffolk University 3-0 (25-10, 25-12, 25-10) in straight sets. With the loss Curry falls to 0-5 on the season. The Rams improve to 3-6.

Curry’s defense worked very hard with solid digging by sophomore Caitlin O'Neil (Chelmsford, MA) and freshman Jessica Crugnale (North Reading, MA).

During set two, the team started out with a 4-0 lead and pushed that up to 8-6, with strong serving by Crugnale and solid blocks. Curry needed good blocking against a tough Suffolk hitting team and got a total of 16 blocks, with the majority coming from freshman Jenna Butera (Norfolk, MA) and sophomore Kendra LeMay (Chicopee, MA).  Sophomore Kaitlyn Poirier (Acushnet, MA) also contributed great defensive play.

The Colonels return to action on Sunday September 19 when they travel to Southern Vermont for a 1:00 p.m match against Castleton State and a 3:00 p.m. match against Southern Vermont.
