Women's Tennis Tripped Up by Western New England

MILTON, Mass. - The Curry College women's tennis team suffered a narrow 5-4 loss to Western New England University Thursday afternoon in Commonwealth Coast Conference play at the Trent J. Scott '96 Tennis Courts.

With the defeat, Curry falls to 0-5 overall on the season and 0-2 in the CCC.

Curry took the early lead on the afternoon, taking two of three doubles matches. Senior Sasha Borkov (Newton, Mass.) and junior Serena Wilson (Windsor, Conn.) paired up for an 8-4 win at first doubles for the Colonels, followed by an 8-5 win at second doubles from juniors Grace Coopee (Hampden, Mass.) and Cayla Osowski (Westfield, Mass.).

Western New England rallied to win four out of six singles matches to squeak out a 5-4 win. Curry got wins from Borkov at first singles (6-2, 6-0) and Coopee (7-6, 6-2).

Curry will return to action on the road on Monday, making the short trip into the city to take on UMass Boston. First serves are slated for 3 p.m.
