Women's Tennis Drops Senior Day Match to Fighting Scots

MILTON, Mass. – The Curry College women's tennis team dropped a 7-2 decision to Gordon College on Saturday afternoon in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action at the Trent J. Scott '96 Tennis Courts on Senior Day

Gordon began the day by taking two doubles points and went on to capture five of six singles matches. Curry's points came courtesy of junior Kayla Connors (Brockton, Mass.) and junior Lily Turner-Burrell (Rochester, Vt.) winning by default at No. 3 while senior Kelsie Merrill (Hope, Maine) picked up a point at No. 6 singles, winning by default.

The top Fighting Scot duo of junior Jordyn Maddex (Andover, Kan.) and freshman Annette Kim (Andover, Mass.) earned an 8-1 victory over the Colonels' pair of freshman Alexandra Borkov (Newton, Mass.) and sophomore Sophia Wiernusz (Collegeville, Pa.). The tandem of junior Madison West (Southampton, N.Y.) and freshman Kristin Kendall (Cumberland, Maine) triumphed over senior Alison Daigle (Edgartown, Mass.) and Merrill at No. 2 doubles by an 8-1 final.

Kim, West, Kendall, and Fournier all cruised to straight set wins in singles and combined to lose 13 games between them. At the No. 1 spot, Maddex dropped her first set to Borkov, 6-4, before bouncing back to take the second, 6-4. She then won the third set 6-4 to capture the victory.

This marked the final match of the season for Curry (1-5 overall, 1-4 CCC).
