Women's Tennis Blanked By Endicott

MILTON, Mass. – The Curry College women's tennis team dropped a 9-0 conference decision to Endicott College on Saturday afternoon at the Trent J. Scott '96 Tennis Courts.

The Gulls improved to 2-0 overall (2-0 CCC) on the season. The Colonels slipped to 1-1 overall (1-1 CCC).

Endicott won all 14 of the 15 sets played. Freshman Shelby Henry (Lincoln, Neb.) defeated junior Kayla Connors (Brockton, Mass.) at No. 4 singles without dropping a game. Sophomore Ashley Keaveney (Exeter, N.H.) topped senior Alison Daigle (Edgartown, Mass.) by a final of 6-0 and 6-3. Senior Gretta Hartman (Glastonbury, Conn.) got by Curry sophomore Sophia Wiernusz (Collegeville, Pa.) 6-3, 7-6 (7-4) at No. 2 singles. Freshman Alexandra Borkov (Newton, Mass.) put up a fight at the No. 1 singles slot against senior Justine Hoover (Wallingford, Conn.). Hoover took the first set 6-1. Borkov evened the match at one set apiece with a 7-5 second set victory. In lieu of a third set, the two played a ten-point super tiebreak with Hoover coming out on top, 10-2.

Hartman and Hoover teamed for a win at first doubles, sophomore Olivia Berler (Marstons Mills, Mass.) and Keaveney won at No.  2 and senior Clare O'Keefe (Lutz, Fla.) and Henry paired for a victory via forfeit at No. 3 doubles.

Curry returns to the courts on Wednesday, April 7 at home against Gordon College. Start time is set for 3:30 p.m. Endicott will next play at Wentworth on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m.
