Women's Tennis Sweeps Becker, 9-0

MILTON, Mass. – The Curry College women's tennis team defeated visiting Becker College, 9-0, at the Big Nine Courts on Wednesday afternoon. With the win, the Colonels improve to 2-13 on the season, while the Hawks fall to 8-5 overall.

The Colonels swept all six singles matches and all three double matches.

Curry's No. 1 singles player, Sidara Cash-Sortwell (Portland, Maine) won her match 6-2, 6-2 against Jacqueline Andrade (Somerset, Mass.).  The Colonel's No. 2 singles player Alexis Mclea-Perry (Plymouth, Mass.) claimed her tilt verse Victoria Puczydlowski (Dudley, Mass.), 6-0, 6-2. In No. 3 singles, the Hawks Dana Mahan (Manville, R.I.) was bested by Stephanie Leblanc (Bridgewater, Mass.), 6-1, 6-0. Alison Daigle (Edgartown, Mass.) earned the No. 4 singles win for Curry, 6-0, 6-1 by defeating Fiona Gilley (Worcester, Mass.).  The Colonel's April Miller (Newton, N.H.) earned 6-2, 6-1 wins over Shannon Hazelton (Rockland, Mass.) and at the No. 6 position Kelsie Merrill (Hope, Maine) swept Becker's Jessica Mossop (Wellington, Fla.), 6-0, 6-0.

In doubles, the No.1 pair Perry and Leblanc earned an 8-4 victory over the Hawks Andrade and Puczydlowski.  The No. 2 duo of Sidara Cash-Sortwell and Alexandra Petrucci (Wakefield, R.I.) outlasted Becker's Mahan and Gilley, 8-6.  In the final match on the day, No.3 Colonels doubles partners, Miller and Sam Gilbert (Bedford, Mass.) bested Hazelton and Mossop, 8-1.
