Women's Tennis Tripped up at CCC Rival Gordon, 8-1

WENHAM, Mass. — Gordon's women's tennis team defeated Curry 8-1 on Wednesday afternoon in Commonwealth Coast Conference action.

The Fighting Scots (5-3, 4-2 CCC) went 5-1 in singles play and 3-0 in doubles play against the Colonels (0-10, 0-6 CCC).

In singles competition, Justine Hanson defeated Sidara Cash-Sortwell 6-1, 6-0 at the No. 1, Katherine Jeffreys defeated Alexis Mclea-Perry 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 2, Kaelyn Hall defeated Alison Daigle 6-1, 6-1 at the No. 3, Gabrielle Brucker defeated Kelsie Merrill 6-0, 6-1 at the No. 4, Emily Ontiveros defeated Samantha Gilbert 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 5, and Alexandra Petrucci defeated Courtney Barlotta 4-6, 6-4, 10-8 at the No. 6.

In doubles competition, Brucker/Hanson defeated Cash-Sortwell/Mclea-Perry 8-0 at the No. 1, Hall/Caitlin Kwok defeated Merrill/Gilbert 8-0 at the No. 2, and Ontiveros/Victoria Kaznowski defeated Daigle/Petrucci 8-3 at the No. 3.

Gordon next hosts Eastern Nazarene Sept. 30 at 12 p.m. for Homecoming and Senior Day.  Curry is away at Mt. Ida College in a non-conference match-up on Sept. 29 at 4:00 p.m. (Match Recap Courtesy of Gordon Sports Information)
