Women's Tennis Shut Out by CCC Foe Endicott, 9-0

MILTON, Mass. – The Curry College women's tennis team fell to visiting Commonwealth Coast Conference opponent Endicott College, 9-0, on Saturday afternoon.  With the win the Gulls improve their overall record to 10-2 and remain undefeated at 8-0 in the CCC.  The Colonels fell to 1-12 overall and 0-8 in the CCC.

The Gulls swept all six singles matches and all three double matches.

Endicott No. 1 singles player, senior Amy Heacox (Marion, Mass.) won her match 8-1 against sophomore Kayla Prete (Orange, Conn.).  Freshman No. 2 singles player Dayna Reilly (Swansea, Mass.) claimed her tilt verse junior Hannah Erickson (Mount Desert, Maine), 8-0. In No. 3 singles, the Colonels freshman Laura Ferris (Shelton, Conn.) was bested by junior Suzie Newman (Dighton, Mass.), 8-1. Sophomore Jamie Zompa (Marlborough, Mass.) earned the No. 4 singles win for the Gulls, 8-1 by defeating senior Alison Rhodes (Rye, N.H.). Endicott freshman Hannah Kravetz (Wayland, Mass.) earned 6-0, 6-0 wins over freshman Jennifer Dube (Coventry, Conn.) at the No. 5 position.  At the No.6 slot freshman Katie Javaruski (Mansfield, Conn.) won by forfeit.

In doubles, the No. 1 duo of senior Natalie Egbert (Gorham, Maine) and junior Brittany Potter (Bedford, N.H.) bested Prete and Erickson, 8-1.  The No. 2 pair of freshman Maxine Bergstein (Hingham, Mass.) and sophomore Mackenzie Rhodes (Rye, N.H.) swept Ferris and Rhodes, 8-0.  In the final match on the day, No.3 doubles partners, sophomore Skyelar MacLeod (Portsmouth, R.I.) and Zompa earned their victory after another Curry forfeit.

The Colonels return to action on Monday, October 13 when they host Lesley in a 3:30 p.m. match.  The Gulls return to action on Tuesday, October 7, for the CCC quarterfinal match.
