Women's Tennis Falls to Conference Foe Roger Williams, 9-0

BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University Women's Tennis team rolled off its fourth straight 9-0 victory Thursday afternoon, taking a Commonwealth Coast Conference match over Curry College.

Roger Williams (6-2, 3-1 CCC) has not given up a team point since September 6 and will seek to extend its win streak to five Saturday against Nichols. Curry (0-5, 0-2 CCC) looks to earn its first victory of the year Saturday against Wentworth.

The Hawks picked up two 8-0 wins at #2 and #3 doubles. Harley Kaiserman (Setauket, N.Y.) and Caroline McCarthy won their match against Hannah Erickson and Laura Ferris, while Kathryn Hughes (Westford, Conn.) and Gabrielle Riley (Barnstable, Mass.) took down Alexandra Moschetto and Sanjay Toure. At #1, Alexandra Brown (Kennett, Mo.) and Lauren Schmidt (South Easton, Conn.) notched an 8-2 win against Kimberly Love and Kayla Prete.

In singles, flights #1, #2, #3, and #5 were all won by Roger Williams with identical 6-1, 6-0 scores. Schmidt took down Love at #1, while Hughes won over Prete at #2. Kaiserman notched her #3 win against Ferris, while Caitlin Pierpoint (Glastonbury, Conn.) took down Moschetto.

Mary Terranova (North Andover, Mass.) earned her first collegiate victory with a 6-0, 6-0 win at #6 over Toure. At #3, Ali Stankiewicz (Brunswick, Maine) improved to 3-0 at singles, winning 6-1, 6-2 against Erickson. (Match recap courtesy of Roger Williams Sports Information)
