Women's Tennis Tripped Up by Rhode Island College, 8-1

MILTON, Mass. – The Curry College women's tennis team fell to visiting Rhode Island College, 8-1, at the Big Nine Courts on Tuesday afternoon.  With the win the Anchormen improves to 4-0 on the season, while the Colonels fall to 0-3 overall.

The Anchormen swept all three double matches as the Colonels were forced to forfeit the #3 doubles match.  They were victorious in five singles matches; the #6 match was also forfeited by Curry due to an injured player. The Colonels earned their only win at the #4 singles spot. 

Rhode Island's #1 singles player, junior Sadie Campanella (Chepachet, R.I.) won her match 6-0, 6-2 against junior Kimberly Love (Windsor Locks, Conn.).  Freshman #2 singles player Kim Daigle (Sterling, Mass.) claimed her tilt verse sophomore Kayla Prete (Orange, Conn.), 6-1, 6-1. In # 3 singles, the Colonels freshman Laura Ferris (Shelton, Conn.) was bested by sophomore Julie Reddy (Greenville, R.I.) 6-0, 6-1. Curry junior Hannah Erickson (Mount Desert, Maine) earned her singles win at the #4 spot, 4-3, by default as Rhode Island College's junior Tressa Cantana (Cranston, R.I.) was unable to finish. Freshman Alexandra Moschetto (Hampton Falls, N.H.) fell to sophomore Noelle Tiberi (Smithfield, R.I.), 6-0, 6-1 at the #5 slot.

In doubles, the #1 duo of Campanella and Daigle bested Love and Prete, 8-1.  In the final match on the day, #2 doubles partners, Tiberi and Reddy outlasted Ferris and Erickson, 8-1.

The Colonels return to action on Thursday, September 11 at 3:00 when they host Salem State.  The Anchormen will return to action also on Thursday, September 11, when they travel to Gordon College for a 4:00 match.
