Women's Tennis Sweeps Visiting Lesley, 9-0, on Senior Day

MILTON, Mass. – The Curry College women's tennis team defeated visiting Lesley University, 9-0, at the Big Nine Courts on Monday afternoon.  The match honored the five seniors in their last home contest of their four-year career. With the win the Colonels improve to 9-6 overall.  The Lynx fell to 5-7 in the loss. 

The Colonels swept all six singles matches and all three doubles.

In singles at the #1 spot, senior Emily Mongello (Plymouth, Mass.) knocked off her opponent, junior Carissa Iverson (St. Johnsbury, Vt.), 6-0, 6-0.  At the #2 slot senior Megan Mulrooney (South Boston, Mass.) defeated sophomore Victoria Bunker (Auburn, Maine), 6-2, 6-0, at #3 freshman Molly Louis (Guilford, Conn.) took care of freshman Frances De Leon (Murietta, Calif.), 6-1, 6-0, at #4 senior Lauren Chuha (Reading, Mass.) bested junior Emma True (Lee, N.H), 6-1, 6-0, at #5 sophomore Kimberly Love (Windsor Locks, Conn.) conquered junior Meghann Toomajian (Nahant, Mass.), 6-0, 6-0 and in the final singles match, freshman Kayla Prete (Orange, Conn.) captured 6-1, 6-1 victories over freshman Kaitlin Parthum (Hardwick, Mass.). 

In doubles, the Colonels earned all three points when Mongello and Chuha beat True and junior Molly Phelps (Durham, N.H.), 8-0 at #1.  At #2, Mulrooney and Love overpowered De Leon and Bunker, 8-0 and in the final doubles match, seniors Devin Curley (Marshfield, Mass.) and Elizabeth Zarkades (Beverly, Mass.) defeated freshman Grace Ciampa (Tewksbury, Mass.) and sophomore Kelly Watt (Babylon, N.Y.), 8-0. 

The Colonels next match is away at UMass Boston on Tuesday, October 15 in a 3:00 p.m. match.  The Lynx travel to Bay Path College on Wednesday, October 16 at 3:30 p.m.
