Women's Tennis Downs Salem State, 8-1

SALEM, Mass. – The Curry College Colonels swept the Salem State Vikings, 8-1 on Thursday afternoon at the Central Campus Tennis Courts. Curry won five of six singles matches, and swept all three doubles matches to improve to 2-2 on the year. Salem State slips to 0-1.

Emily Mongello (Plymouth, Mass.) and Kayla Prete (Orange, Conn.), and Megan Mulrooney (South Boston, Mass.) and Kimberly Love (Windsor Locks, Conn.) recorded victories at first and second singles respectively. Mongello and Prete defeated April McDermott (Tewksbury, Mass.) and Katie Razzaboni (Hooksett, N.H.), 8-4 while Mulrooney and Love knocked off Lauren Woods (Burlington, Mass.) and Hillary Gustafson (Belchertown, Mass.), 8-1.

Gustafson scored the only victory for the Vikings, defeating Devin Curley (Marshfield, Mass.) 8-2 in fifth flight singles. Mulrooney won the point at No. 1 singles, 8-0, and Mongello, Molly Louis (Guilford, Conn.), and Love all scored easy victories in second through fourth singles.

Salem State will host Gordon next Thursday at 3:30 PM, while Curry is back in action tomorrow at home against Wentworth.
