Women's Tennis Blanks CCC Foe Eastern Nazarene, 9-0

QUINCY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College women’s tennis team fell to Curry 9-0 in Commonwealth Coast Conference action Wednesday afternoon at the Waterston Avenue Tennis Courts. The Lions sink to 2-4 overall and 0-4 in league matches. The Colonels rise to 3-2 on the season and 2-1 in the conference with the win.

Curry claimed all three doubles points to sport a 3-0 lead at the end of pairs action.

Samantha Jones (Wareham, Mass.) and Elise Sleeper (Sanford, Maine) dropped an 8-1 decision at the top slot to Megan Mulrooney and Emily Mongello. Kelsey Waddle (Olathe, Kan.) and Tressa Burrello (Herkimer, N.Y.) suffered an 8-1 loss at the No. 3 position to the Colonels’ Elizabeth Zarkades and Julia Levine.

Sharon Lemire (Lyndeboro, N.H.) and Kathryn McLaughlin (Huntington Station, N.Y.) were edge 8-5 at the second doubles spot by Curry’s Kimberly Love and Lauren Chuha.

The visitors swept the singles matches to secure their second league win of the year.

Lemire fell 6-2, 6-2 to Mulrooney at the top singles position while Sleeper also dropped a 6-2, 6-2 decision at the No. 2 slot to Mongello.

Jones suffered a 6-2, 6-0 setback at the No. 3 position while McLaughlin fell 6-2, 6-2 at the fourth slot. Burrello endured a 6-1, 6-1 loss at the fifth position to Kate Johnson.

Waddle absorbed an 8-4 loss at the No. 6 spot to Alison Rhodes from Curry.

Up next, the Lions will visit UMass-Boston September 20 for a non-conference match.  The Colonels will travel to Nichols College on Thursday, September 20 for a 4:00 p.m. (Match Recap Courtesy of Eastern Nazarene Sports Information)
