Women's Tennis Falls to Johnson & Wales, 7-2, in Season Home Opener

MILTON, Mass. – Curry College lost to Johnson & Wales, 7-2, in their home opener on Thursday afternoon. 

The Colonels evened out their record at 1-1 while the Wildcats improved to 1-0 on the season.

Curry held the slight advantage after taking two of the three doubles matches.  Junior Megan Mulrooney (South Boston, Mass.) and classmate Emily Mongello (Milton, Mass.) defeated freshmen Samantha Jo Borr (Westfield, N.J.) and Kathryn Farrar (Dublin, Ohio), 8-3, at number one.  At number three, juniors Lauren Chuha (Reading, Mass.) and Elizabeth Zarkades (Beverly, Mass.) shut out freshmen Gabrielle Longo (Philadelphia, Pa.) and Elizabeth Sammelbraun (Evanston, Ill.), 8-0.  Johnson & Wales responded however and swept all six of the singles contests en route to the 7-2 victory.

The Colonels return to action on Saturday, September 8, when they travel to CCC opponent Roger Williams for a 1:00 p.m. match.  The Wildcats host Becker in a non-conference match on Saturday, September 8, at 1:00 p.m.
