Women's Tennis Suffers 6-2 Loss to Conference Foe Roger Williams

MILTON, Mass. –Roger Williams defeated Curry College, 6-2, in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) women's tennis action on Thursday afternoon in Milton. The Hawks improved to 6-3 overall and 4-2 in conference play, while the Colonels fell to 5-4 (3-3 CCC).

In doubles, Curry's Emily Mongello (Milton, Mass.) and Megan Mulrooney (South Boston, Mass.) got the only win for the Colonels taking care of Tracy Klein (New City, N.Y.) and Samantha Curran (Cumberland, R.I.), 8-3, at #1.  The Hawks won the next two doubles matches with Amanda Wolfe (Mansfield, Mass.) and Hillary Dutton (Cheshire, Conn.) defeating Lauren Chuha (Reading, Mass.) and Kate Johnson (Beverly, Mass.), 8-5, at #2 and Caitlin Osepchuk (Ocean Grove, N.J.) and Alexandra Reilly (North Easton, Mass.) knocked of Devin Curley (Marshfield, Mass.) and Elizabeth Zarkades (Beverly, Mass.), 8-2, at #3.

In singles, host Curry got just one win from Mulrooney at #1.  Mongello at #2 did not finish her match against Curran due to weather.  Roger Williams’s next four wins came from Wolfe at #3, Dutton at #4, Osepchuk at #5 and Reilly at #6.

Curry resumes play on October 1, when they travel to Endicott College for a conference match at 1:00 p.m. Roger Williams plays a non-conference match on September 30, when they travel to Bridgewater State University for a 3:30 p.m. start.
