Women's Tennis Falls to Nichols College, 8-1

MILTON, Mass. – A sweep of singles competition helped lift Nichols past Curry, 8-1, in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) women's tennis action Tuesday afternoon in Milton. The Bison improved to 9-3 overall and 6-0 in conference play, while the Colonels fell to 5-3 (3-2 CCC).

In doubles, Nichol's Anna Dyakis (Amsterdam, N.Y.) and Lindsay Benoit (Holden, Mass.) took care of Emily Mongello (Milton, Mass.) and Megan Mulrooney (South Boston, Mass.), 8-5, at #1; Chelsey Miller (Salem, Conn.) and Jill McQuiggan (Weymouth, Mass.) defeated the Colonels' Lauren Chuha (Reading, Mass.) and  Kate Johnson (Beverly, Mass.), 8-4, at #2; and in Curry’s only win on the day, Elizabeth Zarkades (Beverly, Mass.) and Devin Curley (Marshfield, Mass.) knocked off Alexandra Cifone (Bristol, Conn.) and Kelsey Peterson (Fairbanks, Alaska), 8-6, at #3.

In singles, the visiting Bison swept the Colonels in all six matches.  Nichols got wins from Dyakis at #1, Benoit at #2, Cifone at #3, Miller at #4, McQuiggan at #5 and Peterson at #6. 

Curry resumes play on September 29, when they host Roger Williams for a conference match at 3:30 p.m. Nichols also plays a conference match on September 30, when they host Wentworth for a 4:00 p.m. start.
