Women's Tennis Defeats CCC Rival Wentworth, 8-1, for Fourth Straight Win

MILTON, Mass. – A sweep of doubles competition helped lift Curry past Wentworth, 8-1, in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) women’s tennis action Saturday afternoon in Milton. The Colonels improved to 4-0 overall and 2-0 in conference play, while the Leopards fell to 2-1 (1-1 CCC).

In doubles, Curry's Emily Mongello (Milton, Mass.) and Allison Curtis (Moorestown, N.J.) took care of Lana Ho (Vinyard Haven, Mass.) and Sophie Boyce (South Portland, Maine.), 8-3, at #1; Lauren Chuha (Reading, Mass.) and Megan Mulrooney (South Boston, Mass.) defeated the Leopards' Deborah Massaro (Stony Point, N.Y.) and Jillian Flynn  (Billerica, Mass.), 8-2, at #2 and Devin Curley (Marshfield, Mass.) and Elizabeth Zarkades (Beverly, Mass.) completed the sweep by knocking off Olivia Hegmer (Medford, Mass.) and Virginia Ofer (Cooperstown, N.Y.), 8-3, at #3.

In singles, host Curry got wins from Mulrooney at #1, Mongello at #2, Curtis at #3, Chuha at #4 and Kathleen Rush (Waterbury, Conn.) at #5. Wentworth earned its only point at #6, where Ofer handled Kate Johnson (Beverly, Mass.)  in straight sets.

Curry resumes play on September 13, when they travel to Western New England University for a conference match at 3:30 p.m. Wentworth also plays a conference match on September 13, when they travel to Eastern Nazarene for a 3:30 p.m. start.
