Women's Tennis Rolls Past Eastern Nazarene, 9-0

MILTON, Mass. - Curry College rolled past Eastern Nazarene College in their first conference match of the season by the score of 9-0 in women’s tennis action Saturday afternoon in Milton.
 
The host Colonels swept all three doubles matches. Curry's Emily Mongello (Milton, Mass.) and Allison Curtis (Moorestown, N.J.) knocked off Sharon Lemire (Lyndeboro, N.H.) and Elise Sleeper (Sanford, Maine), 8-2, at #1; Lauren Chuha (Reading, Mass.) and Megan Mulrooney (South Boston, Mass.) defeated the Lions’ Samantha Jones (Marion, Mass.) and Allison Cornell (Bolton, Conn.), 8-1, at #2 and Devin Curley (Marshfield, Mass.) and Elizabeth Zarkades (Beverly, Mass.) took care of Cara Nelson (Wolcott, Conn.) and Monica Gonzales (Somerville, Mass.), 8-1, at #3.

Curry was dominant in singles as well, earning wins from Mulrooney at #1, Mongello at #2, Curtis at #3, Chuha at #4, Rush at #5 and Johnson at #6. Mulrooney defeated Lemire, 6-2, 6-1; Mongello defeated Sleeper, 6-4, 6-3; Curtis defeated Cornell, 6-0, 6-0; Chuha defeated Jones, 6-0, 6-2; Rush defeated Nelson, 6-1, 6-0; and Johnson defeated Gonzales, 6-2, 6-0.

The win improves Curry’s record to 2-0 overall and 1-0 the Commonwealth Coast Conference. The loss drops Eastern Nazarene to 0-1 overall and 0-1 in the CCC. Curry returns to action on September 8, when it hosts Johnson & Wales at 3:30 p.m. The Lions’ host Regis College in a 3:30 p.m. match on September 7.
