Women's Soccer Plays UMass Dartmouth to Scoreless Draw

DARTMOUTH, Mass. - The Curry College women's soccer team played UMass Dartmouth to a 0-0 draw Friday evening in non-conference action at Cressy Field.

With the draw, Curry moves to 1-1-2 overall on the young season.

The Colonels heavily controlled the play in the opening 45, but could not break the ice. Curry outshot UMass Dartmouth by an overwhelming margin of 15-0, and led in corner kicks 5-1. Curry senior Sydney Resendes (Coventry, R.I.) led the way with seven first half shots.

The second was much more even, but still neither team scored to give the game its final of 0-0. The shot count was 10-9 in favor of the Colonels after the break.

Curry sophomore Lexi Smardon (Scotland, Conn.) stopped all four shots she faced in the second half for Curry to help preserve Curry's second consecutive clean sheet.

Next up for the Colonels, they will return home for another non-league contest against Rhode Island College on Wednesday evening. Kick-off is slated for 7 p.m.
