Women's Soccer Edged By Gordon

MILTON, Mass. – The Curry College women's soccer team lost by a 2-1 final against Gordon College on Wednesday night at Walter M. Katz Field.

The teams scored all the contests' goals in the first half. Junior Savannah Metz (New Cumberland, Pa.) put the Fighting Scots up 1-0 in the 12th minute when she found the back of the net off an assist from Abbey Engle.

The Colonels found the equalizer in the 23rd minute after freshman Madison Frye (Abington, Mass.) deposited a shot to knot the match at one-all.

Gordon would score the go-ahead goal and eventual game winner in the 30th minute on an unassisted tally from sophomore Calla Ashley (Lancaster, Pa.). The 2-1 score would stand for the remainder of the contest and would end in the same score.

Sophomore Oliver Hutchinson (Scituate, Mass.) finished with four saves while Gordon sophomore goalkeeper Tori Paine (Northbridge, Mass.) recorded six.

Curry (1-1-0 overall) will next head to Emmanuel College on Sunday, May 2 at 11:30 a.m. Gordon (5-0 overall) will host Bridgewater State University on Saturday, May 1 at 1:00 p.m.
