BOSTON, Mass. – For the second straight year, the Curry College women's soccer team volunteered at the Jimmy Fund Walk in Boston on Sunday, September 24.  The Colonels were a "Cheer Squad" at the corner of Hereford Street and Commonwealth Avenue, greeting all the walkers with a variety of cheers, chants, tunnels, and songs to help push them the final mile to the finish line.

This year, Head Coach Jason Tassinari, his wife Andrea, and their three-year-old daughter Olivia walked the 10-mile route.  Coach Taz' daughter was diagnosed with a brain tumor (medulloblastoma) in February of 2016.  She went through chemotherapy until November and is thankfully on the road to recovery. 

"All community services activities we do are rewarding and important, but the Jimmy Fund Walk certainly holds a special place in the hearts of my players because of what my daughter went through in 2016," says Coach Taz. "It was very emotional for us to see all my players at the event, and to see how much energy and enthusiasm they had.  All of them were so instrumental in helping me and my family get through a very difficult time last year, and for that, I am eternally grateful."

The walk raised money for the Jimmy Fund, and walkers have the option of doing the entire marathon route or a variety of smaller distances. 

"My wife, my daughter and I didn't participate in the walk last year because Olivia was on medical restrictions after her chemo treatment ended," said Tassinari. "Thankfully she was able to walk with us this year and be part of a tremendous event."
