Women's Soccer Soars Past Visiting Johnson State College, 6-1

MILTON, Mass. - The Curry College Women's Soccer team defeated visiting Johnson State College, 6-1, on Saturday afternoon at Walter M. Katz Field. With the win the Colonels improve to 3-0 on the season while the Badgers drop to 2-1.

Curry struck first just 2:45 into the first half to take an early 1-0 lead. Freshman Soleil Galagarza (Pawtucket, R.I) sent senior Korinna Tsonis (Dartmouth, Mass.) a through ball which she collected and sent past Johnson State's sophomore goaltender Kaila Lemmer (Barnard, Vt.). The Colonels freshman Lexi Revis (Lincoln, R.I.) netted her first collegiate tally and the eventual game-winner after she dribbled past a Badger defender and shot low into the back of the net. Curry held a 30-3 advantage in shots over the 45 minutes with Lemmer stopping 14. The Colonels sophomore goaltender Kristen Buzzotta (Lynnfield, Mass.) saved all three shots she faced.

Johnson State cut Curry's lead to one as they opened the half with a score at the 52:18 minute mark. Senior Kylie Aither (Hyde Park, Vt.) netted her team's lone goal of the contest off an assist from freshman Jaden Gray (Clinton, Maine). The Colonels answered back just four minutes later when senior Amanda Crisfulla (Raynham, Mass.) earned her first of two assists on the day after she was awarded a corner kick. Crisfulla gave freshman Isabella Shields (Lakeville, Mass.) a pass who one-timed into the back of the net for her first collegiate goal. Two minutes later Crisfulla helped on Tsonis' second tally of the game.  Curry wasn't finished as they put up two more for a six-game total before the clock ran out. Three more freshmen earned their first collegiate points making that a total of five freshmen on the day. Emma Trahant (Lynn, Mass.) and Abby Bostrom (Braintree, Mass.) each scored while Alyson Hampston (North Easton, Mass.) had an assist.

Curry outshot Johnson State 57-10 and held the advantage in corners, 12-1.

Buzzotta earned the victory in goal for the Colonels with three saves before giving way to sophomores Katelyn DeMaio (North Andover, Mass.) who faced zero shots and Haley Rice (Lexington, Mass.) who stopped one. Lemmer made an impressive 25 stops in net for the Badgers in the loss in 76:15 minutes of play while freshman Mia Blackwell (Eastham, Mass.) made two saves.
