Strong Second Half Soars Colonels Past Nighthawks, 2-0

MILTON, Mass. – The Curry College women's soccer team defeated Newbury College, 2-0, on Tuesday night at Walter M. Katz Field in Milton, Mass. With the win the Colonels improve to 6-4-1 overall while the loss drops the Nighthawks to 3-6 on the season.

The Colonels controlled possession in the first half, keeping the ball on the Newbury side of the field. Curry's defense held the Nighthawks to zero shots in the first half while Curry took eight shots on net. The Colonels also earned three corner kicks.

The Colonels got on the board six minutes into the second half when Amanda Crisfulla (Raynham, Mass.) sent a through ball to Brianna Fitzsimmons (East Haven, Mass.) who placed it past keeper Noelle Sass (Randolph, Mass.). Two and a half minutes later, Kelly Parker (Branford, Conn.) fired a shot to the far corner to give the Colonels a 2-0 lead.

Morgan Stott (Dartmouth, Mass.) got the win for the Colonels, playing 63 minutes in net making one save on one shot. Kristen Buzzotta (Lynnfield, Mass.) played 27 minutes, facing 0 shots. Sass took the loss for the Nighthawks, facing 15 shots and making 13 saves.

The Nighthawks return to the field October 1st travel to Southern Vermont College for a 1:00 p.m. kickoff. The Colonels return to the pitch on Saturday October 1st when they welcome the Hawks of Roger Williams. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
