Colonels Halted by Hawks

MILTON, Mass. - Curry College Women's Lacrosse fell to Commonwealth Coast Conference opponent Roger Williams University 4-20 on Katz Field Friday evening.

With the loss, Curry moves forward with an overall record of 2-7 and 0-3 in the CCC.

The visiting Hawks notched the first goal of the Commonwealth Coast Conference matchup, Julia Kelley finding an opening past Vivi Helquist (Proctor, Minn.) to grant Roger Williams a 1-0 lead just over a minute into the contest.

Curry's Grayson Goolgasian (Johnston, RI) tied the contest just over a minute later, finding the back of the net past Hawks' sophomore goalie Caroline Roach on a free-position shot. The unassisted goal from Goolgasian would mark her 21st goal of the season. 

Fifteen unanswered goals from the visiting Hawks would send the matchup into halftime with Roger Williams leading 16-1. 

Curry's Grayson Goolgasian notched her second goal of the conference matchup ten minutes into the third quarter, ripping a shot past Zoey Cormican. 

Goolgasian marked her third goal in the CCC matchup with 9:37 remaining in regulation, beating an RWU defender on the inside and finding an opening past Cormican for the Colonels' third goal of the day.

Curry's Chloe Chevrier pushed the Colonels' goal total to four with 7:31 left on the clock on a free-position shot, finding an opening on Cormican's left side. 

The Colonels would not be able to catch the Hawks' lead through regulation, falling to Roger Williams by a final score of 4-20. 

Curry sophomore netminder Vivi Helquist (Proctor, Minn.) notched six saves in the conference loss at home.

The Colonels get back out on the field Tuesday as they travel to face CCC opponent Western New England at 4 PM.
