Colonels Fall to Fighting Scots

WENHAM, Mass. - Curry College Women's Lacrosse suffered a 10-18 defeat to CCC opponent Gordon College in its conference opener Saturday afternoon.

With the loss, Curry moves forward with an overall record of 2-5 and 0-1 in the CCC.

Gordon College struck first in the conference matchup, notching three goals in the opening three minutes of the game.

Curry's first goal was tallied by Ellie Hardman (Hanover, Mass.) assisted by Ava Doyle (Lynnfield, Mass.) with nine minutes remaining in the first quarter. Just two minutes later, Curry's Chloe Chevrier (West Suffield, Conn.) brought the Colonels' score within one of the hosts' on a goal assisted by Grayson Goolgasian (Johnston, R.I.). Three additional goals from the hosts and one for the Colonels would close out the first quarter, 7-3 in favor of the hosting Fighting Scots.

Both Chloe Chevrier and Grayson Goolgasian would mark unassisted goals at the start of the second quarter to close in on the lead gained by Gordon in the first quarter.

Gordon College would push its lead to 18-9 with just over five minutes remaining in the Commonwealth Coast Conference matchup in Wenham, Mass.

Curry sophomore midfielder, Asher Printzen (Las Vegas, Nev.) tallied the Colonels' final goal of the afternoon with 4:12 remaining on the clock to close out the contest 18-10 in favor of the Gordon College Fighting Scots.

Curry freshman netminder Zoe Ratcliffe (Medway, Mass.) notched six saves in the conference loss on the road.

The Colonels get back out on the field Wednesday as they travel to face UNE in conference action set for 4 PM.
