Colonels Topped by Nor’Easters in Final Game of the Regular Season

MILTON, Mass. - The Curry College Women's Lacrosse team was downed by Commonwealth Coast Conference opponent University of New England 14-12 in their final game of the season. 

With the loss, Curry closes out their season with a final record of 2-13 overall and 1-7 in the CCC. 

The Colonels grabbed an early lead in the conference contest, scoring four goals within the opening four minutes. Curry's Sharon Doherty (Easton, Mass.) contributed two goals to the Colonels' early lead. Two goals from the visiting Nor'Easters in the final moments of the first quarter closed the Curry lead to just two. 

Curry's Ellie Hardman (Hanover, Mass.) netted a goal just 40 seconds into the second quarter to extend their lead to three scores. Senior Maggie Murray (Marstons Mills, Mass.) was credited with an assist. 

Three unanswered goals from the visitors tied the matchup at five apiece with just over nine minutes remaining in the half. 

Curry's Grayson Goolgasian (Johnston, R.I.) regained the lead for the Colonels on a free position shot with under seven minutes remaining in the half. Goals from Sharon Doherty and Natalie Keenan (Haverhill, Mass.) in the final minutes of the half sent the two conference sides into the intermission tied 8-8.

The Colonels marked two goals back-to-back in the opening minutes of the second half, Goolgasian and Murray pushing their side back in front, 10-8. 

Again, the visiting Nor'Easters tied up the contest with two goals from Anna Stowell. UNE tallied four more goals through the opening moments of the fourth quarter to extend their lead to three. 

Curry's Sabrina Santaniello (Marshfield, Mass.) recorded one more goal with just over two minutes remaining in the contest, however, it would not be enough to catch the lead gained by the visitors. 

UNE would take the conference matchup on Katz Field by a final score of 14-12.

The Colonels were paced by Sharon Doherty (4 goals), Grayson Goolgasian (3 goals, 1 assist), and Maggie Murray (2 goals, 1 assist).
