Women's Lacrosse Dropped by Wellesley

WELLESLEY, Mass. - The Curry College women's lacrosse team fell by a final score of 16-5 to Wellesley College in non-conference action Wednesday afternoon at a snowy Butler Stadium.

With the defeat, Curry drops to 0-4 overall on the young season.

The Blue found the back of the net seven times in the opening quarter to take early control of the contest. Sophomore Chloe Chevrier (West Suffield, Conn.) scored twice in the period for the Colonels, while also assisting on a goal from senior Sharon Doherty (Easton, Mass.).

Senior Sabrina Santaniello (Marshfield, Mass.) scored for Curry in both the second and third quarters, but Wellesley scored nine times in the two quarters to jump out to the wide lead.

Due to field and weather conditions, the game was called at the completion of the third quarter.

Between the pipes, senior goalkeeper Jess Ginaitt (Warwick, R.I.) took the loss with three saves in just shy of 35 minutes in net.

Curry will be off for over a week until taking on the Savannah College of Art and Design in Georgia on its Spring Break trip next Thursday. The non-league contest is scheduled for 10 a.m.
