UNE Races Past Women's Lacrosse

BIDDEFORD, Maine – Curry College lost by a 24-6 final to the University of New England on Saturday afternoon in a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) women's lacrosse showdown at UNE Blue Bolt Field.

Senior Keara Dwyer (Cazenovia, N.Y.) led all scorers with four goals and three assists to pace the Nor'easters. Junior Sharon Doherty (North Easton, Mass.), senior Allie Wysocki (Agawam, Mass.), and junior Sabrina Santaniello (Marshfield, Mass.) accounted for Curry's six goals on the day.

UNE scored the nine of the first 10 goals of the contest en route to the victory. The Nor'easters scored the final two goals of the half, with senior Molly Camelo (Melrose, Mass.) and senior Casey Conwell (North Andover, Mass.) netting unassisted markers. Doherty pulled the Colonels to within one with a goal in which came off an assist from freshman Ellie Hardman (Hanover, Mass.) with 21:58 remaining in the half. UNE outscored Curry 14-1 over the remainder of the half to carry a 16-3 lead into the intermission.

The Nor'easters added eight goals in the second stanza and kept Curry to just three. UNE finished with a 35-21 edge in total shots.

Curry (1-4 overall, 1-4 CCC) will next host Western New England University on Saturday, April 17 at 1 p.m. The University of New England (1-0 overall, 1-0 CCC) returns to action on Wednesday, April 14 at Gordon College at 7:00 p.m.
