Five Colonels Earn All-CCC Women's Lacrosse Honors

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Student-athletes from eight member institutions in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) were represented on the 2013 All-CCC Women’s Lacrosse Team, it was announced today by Commissioner Gregg M. Kaye.  In addition to the all-conference team, winners of five major individual awards and the team sportsmanship award were also selected.

Curry College had five student-athletes named to the all-conference team. Junior Mel Brickey was named to the All-CCC First Team. Senior Ana Bottary, junior Haley Carey and freshman Alexis Cran were all named to the All-CCC Second Team.  Freshman Emma Bolton was named to the All-CCC Honorable Mention Team.

Endicott senior Holly Davis was named the CCC Offensive Player of the Year, while junior teammate Kelsey Barnes was selected as the CCC Defensive Player of the Year. Western New England freshman Taylor Scialdone was chosen as the CCC Rookie of the Year, University of New England’s Emily Lodge was honored as the CCC Senior Scholar-Athlete of the Year, Western New England’s Aimee Klepacki was honored as CCC Coach of the Year and Wentworth Institute of Technology was the recipient of the Team Sportsmanship Award.

Voting for the All-CCC team and each of the major awards was conducted among CCC women’s lacrosse coaches.

Joining Barnes (defense), Davis (midfield), and Scialdone (attack) on the first team were attackers Gina Newsome (University of New England), Hannah Tavella (University of New England), and Kelly Tierney (Endicott), midfielders Anna Blomberg (Gordon), Jessica Scannapieco (Western New England), defenders Mel Brickey (Curry), Johanna Currier (University of New England), and Krysti Leach (Gordon), and goalkeeper Rachel Socolow (Endicott).

Second team selections include attackers Ana Bottary (Curry), Haley Carey (Curry), Jessica Castelline (Gordon), Callie Murphy (Endicott), and Kaitlynn Stevens (Western New England), midfielders Rachel Campos (Endicott), Stephanie Fitzgerald (Gordon), and Lauren Todd (Endicott), defenders Alexis Cran (Curry), Stacia Geno (Endicott), Mackenzie Logan (Roger Williams), Nicolle Steel (University of New England), Sarah Stevens (Western New England), and goalkeeper Emily Castleman (Western New England).

Receiving honorable mention were attackers Jennifer Jones (Salve Regina), Caitlin Pratt (Endicott), and Kelsey Rahilly (Roger Williams), midfielders Emma Bolton (Curry), Deven Machette (Roger Williams), Grace Murphy (Nichols), Rachel Schwaner (University of New England), Jessica Searl (Roger Williams), and Kelsey Sherman (Western New England), defenders Gabrielle Boyle (Endicott), Gina Iannazzi (University of New England), and Danielle Malconian (Salve Regina), and goalkeeper Courtney Kendall (University of New England).
