Hansbury Earns ECAC, IWLCA Honors

MILTON, Mass. - Ashley Hansbury (Chelmsford, Mass.) has been named as 2011 ECAC Division III New England Offensive Player of the Year. Hansbury wrapped up her stellar career at Curry by becoming the NCAA Division III all-time record holder in total points, scoring 151 points during her senior year to bring her career total to 498.

A three-time Player of the Year selection in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC), Hansbury led the league in goals (108), points (151), draw controls (101) and free position goals (26) from her attack position. She also is the nation’s all-time leading goal scorer. The Colonels (16-5) finished the regular season at 9-2 in CCC play, including a No. 3 seed in the conference tournament and runner-up finish in the ECAC New England Championship.

In addition to earning ECAC Player of the Year, Hansbury was also named as CCC Offensive Player of the Year for the third year in a row. She was also one of 224 Division III student-athletes selected for an IWLCA All-Regional Team. Hansbury was an IWLCA First Team Pilgrim Region member. At the conclusion of the 2011 season, she was selected to play in the IWLCA senior North/South game.  The game was held at the United Sports Training Center in Downingtown, Pa. on June 11.  Hansbury was the first player in the history of the program to be invited to play in this game.
