Women's Lacrosse Downs Daniel Webster, 25-3

MILTON, Mass. – Junior attack Ana Bottary (Hull, Mass.) tallied a career-high 13 points, to lead the Curry College women's lacrosse team over visiting Daniel Webster College, 25-3.  The Colonels improve to 5-4 on the season, while the Eagles fall to 3-5.
 
Curry owned a commanding 47-8 shot advantage and scored the first eight goals of the contest before Daniel Webster would net their first.  The Colonels would tack on six more and the Eagles just one to head into the break with a demanding 14-2 lead. 
 
Curry’s first eight goals came off of seven players sticks.  Bottary netted two of her five on the night while  senior Heather Breton (Wolfeboro, N.H.), sophomores Haley Carey (New Milford, Conn.), Mel Brickey (Chelmsford, Mass.), Deanna Monfredo (West Islip, N.Y.) and  Kelly Ethier (Merrimack, N.H.) and freshman Caitlin Corkery (Arlington, Mass.) each potted one.  Daniel Webster got on the board at the 12:05 mark when junior Samantha Cotoni (Groton, Mass.) scored an unassisted goal.  The Colonels went on to score three more, two by Brickey and one by Bottary, before the Eagles’ junior Kaylea Parkin (Red Hook, N.Y.) tallied her teams second of the game.  The Colonels scored the last three goals of the half.  Brickey, Bottary and Carey were each credited with another goal.

Curry came out strong to start the second stint while putting away six more and finishing with another five for a 25 total.  Daniel Webster scored their third and last goal midway through the frame off a goal by sophomore Brandi Ritz (Burlington, N.J.).  Bottary scored one more in the half for a game total of five and eight assists.  Carey finished the night with six goals and two assists for eight points.  Brickey was solid on attack and defense, notching five goals, assisting on two for a total of seven points, causing four turnovers and coming up with a career-high 16 draw controls.  Ethier earned one more goal for a total of two, freshman Colby Lowell (Marshfield, Mass.) countered for one and senior goalie Maria Lynch (Billerica, Mass.) began the match in net for the Colonels, but ended it by netting the Colonels last goal of the game. 

Curry outshot Daniel Webster 47-8 and picked up 24 of 30 draw controls. 

Lynch stopped the only shot she faced in 14:01 minutes of action in net for the Colonels, before yielding to junior Emily LeBlanc (Abington, Mass.) who allowed three goals and made two saves in 31:59 minutes of play in goal.  Freshman Christina Wallis (Peabody, Mass.), saw 14:00 minutes in net and made one save while allowing zero goals.  Sophomore Theresa Moskati (Buffalo, N.Y.) turned away eight shots on net in the loss. 

The Colonels will take on CCC opponent Roger Williams University on Saturday, April 7 for a 2:00 p.m. game start.  The Eagles will travel to Nichols College on Monday, April 9 in a 4:00 p.m. game time.
