Robichaud Scores Game-Winner With 13 Seconds Remaining as Women's Lacrosse Defeats TCCC Rival Colby-Sawyer, 16-15

MILTON, Mass.- Senior Rachel Robichaud (Billerica, Mass.) scored the game-winning goal with just 13 seconds left in regulation to lift Curry past Colby-Sawyer 16-15 on Wednesday in Milton.  With the win the Colonels improve to 7-3 overall and 4-2 in The Commonwealth Coast Conference.  It also marks the 100th win at Curry for Head Coach Caitlin Roberts.  The Chargers fall to 3-6 overall and 2-4 in The Commonwealth Coast Conference. 

Curry was up 7-2 early in the first half before Colby-Sawyer scored two unanswered goals to come within three. The Colonels scored one more to take a five goal advantage, but the Chargers scored five goals in the last eight minutes to tie the game at 8-8. 

Curry regained the lead again early in the second half scoring four quick goals before Colby-Sawyer would score their first of the half. The Colonels would take another four goal lead at 13-9 but once again the Chargers climbed their way back up to tie the game at 13 all.  Curry had its chance to win when junior Jessie Koffman (Andover, Mass.) scored with three minutes remaining.  Colby-Sawyer however wouldn't go away easy and tied the game just one minute later.  Curry won the draw after the Chargers goal and Robichaud scored the game-winner on a free position shot.    

Robichaud ended the night with four goals, two assists, six draw controls and three caused turnovers.  Two other Curry players had six-point nights.  Senior Ashley Hansbury (Chelmsford, Mass.), despite missing most of the first half and all of the second, scored two goals and added four assists.  Koffman had her best effort of the season with four goals and two assists.  Junior Elissa Bulgatz (Chicago, IL) added three tallies, Kelly Champagne (Wolfeboro, NH) had two and freshman Ana Bottary (Hull, Mass.) had one.

The Chargers were lead by sophomore Brittany Murphy (Woburn, Mass.) who had five goals.  Four of her five goals came in the first half.  Senior Elaina Kennedy (Sunderland, Mass.) scored three goals, junior Sam Draper (Duxbury, Mass.) and freshmen Laurel Bauer (Bradford, NH) and Ashley Reis (Peterborough, NH) each had two goals and sophomore Molly Prudden (Andover, Mass.) had one.

Junior Maria Lynch (Billerica, Mass.) played in net and made 14 saves for the win. In net for Colby-Sawyer was freshman Etka Sampson (Hyde Park, VT) who made nine saves.

The Colonels will travel to Gordon College on Saturday, April 10 for a 4:30 p.m game time. Colby-Sawyer hosts Roger Williams on Saturday April 10 for a 1:00 p.m. game start.
