Women's Lacrosse Downs Anna Maria 22-5

MILTON, Mass.-Curry College scored fourteen first half goals en route to an 22-5 victory over Anna Maria College on Saturday in Milton.  With the win the Colonels improve to 5-2 overall and 2-1 in The Commonwealth Coast Conference.  The Amcats fall to 2-6 overall and 1-3 in The Commonwealth Coast Conference.

Senior attackers Ashley Hansbury (Chelmsford, Mass./Chelmsford) and Carissa Lauyer (Bloomsburg, NJ) led the Colonels with ten points apiece.  Hansbury found the back of the net five times while dishing out five assists and Lauyer scored twice and added a career high eight assists. 

Curry got goals from ten different players.  Junior attacker Elissa Bulgatz (North Brook, Ill.) and Senior midfielder Rachel Robichaud (Billerica, Mass./Billerica) each finished the day with four points.  Bulgatz had three goals and an assist and Robichaud and two goals and two assists. Other multiple point scorers were junior attack Jessie Koffman (Andover, Mass.), and freshmen Courtney Shaffer (Hull, Mass.), Ana Bottary (Hull, Mass.) and Nicole Sullivan (Arlington, Mass.).  Junior attack Maria Lynch(Billerica, Mass.), junior midfielder Kelly Champagne (Wolfeboro, Mass.) and freshman attack Brittany Gower (Warwick, RI) contributed one goal.

Curry, which held a 17-11 advantage in draw controls also caused 17 turnovers. 

Anna Maria scored one first half goal and three second.  Four different players scored for the Amcats.  Senior attack Jennifer McCabe (Westborough, Mass.), junior defender Sarah Moore (Holden, Mass.) and sophomore midfielder Katie Schebel (Ludlow, Mass) and sophomore attack Amanda Hevy (North Brookfield, Mass.) each scored once.

Curry played three different goalies in net, junior goalie Lynch, who also got saw time as a field player,  finished with one save with no goals against, junior Kate Noe (Greenwich, Mass.) saved four shots and allowed two goals and freshman Emily LeBlanc (Abington, Mass.) allowed two goals without making a stop. In net for Anna Maria was freshman Michelle St. Pierre who made nine saves for the loss.

The Colonels will travel to the University of New England on Tuesday, March 30 for a 6:30 p.m game time. Anna Maria travels to Colby-Sawyer on April 5 for a 3:30 start.
