Second-Half Surge Not Enough as Womenâ??s Lacrosse Falls to Western New England, 15-10

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Freshman midfielder Megan Doyle (Putnam Valley, NY)
and senior midfielder Lindsey Fenton (Pelham, MA) combined for nine
goals as the Western New England College women's lacrosse team defeated
visiting Curry 15-10 Wednesday (March 24).

This was The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) opener for the Golden
Bears who are improved their record to 3-4 after breaking a two-game
skid. The Colonels suffered only their second loss in six outings and
fell to 1-1 in the league.

Doyle fired in a game high five goals while Fenton added four goals and
two assists in becoming the school's all-time career leader in goals
with 210. Fenton broke the old mark of 208 set by former teammate Kayte
Devine (2005-08).

Sophomore attacker Katie Toomy (Northborough, MA) contributed three
goals and an assist while junior attacker Jeanmarie Barbato (Huntington
Station, NY) chipped-in with four assists.

Junior goalie Marissa Bonitatibus (Yorktown Heights, NY) compiled 17
saves in a solid performance.

Western New England College scored the first three goals of the game in
taking a 10-3 lead at halftime.

Senior attacker Ashley Hansbury (Chelmsford, MA) led the Colonels with
four goals while senior attacker Carissa Lauyer (Bloomsbury, NJ) and
freshman center Ana Bottary (Hull, MA) each scored twice. Sophomore
attacker Jessie Koffman (Andover, MA) had a goal and assist.

Junior goalie Maria Lynch (Billerica, Mass.) made seven saves in the loss.
