Women’s Ice Hockey Draws with Western New England

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Curry College played to a 2-2 draw against Western New England University in a Commonwealth Coast Conference women's Ice Hockey game Saturday afternoon at the Olympia Ice Arena.

After two scoreless overtime periods, the Colonels won 2-1 in a shootout over the Golden Bears but the game still resulted in a draw, giving Curry an overall record of 9-11-3 and a conference record of 5-8-3.

Junior Danielle Reid (Plainview, N.Y.) was the first Colonel to score, evening the game at 1-1 with four minutes remaining in the first period. She was assisted on the play by sophomore Tommi Nash (Point Pleasant, N.J.).

Junior Hannah Berkowitz (Mattawan, Mich.) was next to score, tying the game at two goals apiece halfway through the third quarter after receiving the puck from freshman Julia Small (Methuen, Mass.) and sophomore Ava Doyle (Lynnfield, Mass).

Graduate goaltender Soleil Archambeault (London, Ontario) played the entire game in net for the Colonels, making 25 saves throughout the contest.

Curry College returns to action on Friday, February 16th, with a road matchup against Suffolk University beginning at 6 p.m.
