Women's Ice Hockey Falls to #4 Ranked Amherst Mammoths

Canton, MA – The Curry Colonels fell to the #4 Amherst Mammoths on Friday night by a final score of 5-1. With the loss the Colonels fall to 9-11-2 on the season, while the Mammoths are now 17-2-2.

The Mammoths struck early, scoring just 45 seconds into the game. They then doubled their lead with four minutes remaining in the quarter. The Colonels would trail by that 2-0 score at the end of the period. Amherst would strike again just over five minutes into the second quarter, but the Colonels would answer just 20 seconds later. Danielle Reid was set up by Ali Olorenshaw, cutting into the Amherst lead and making it 3-1. But the Mammoths would get the goal back midway through the second period, and would take a 4-1 lead into the second intermission. The Mammoths would add one final goal in the third, taking the game 5-1

The Mammoths outshot the Colonels 49-16, but the Colonels won the faceoff battle 22 to 20. Curry goaltender Sarah Kerr stopped 44 of the 49 shots she faced.

Up Next – The Colonels will get back to conference play tomorrow, when they travel to Western New England for a 3:30pm puck drop.
