Women's Ice Hockey Doubles Up Worcester State

CANTON, Mass. - The Curry College women's ice hockey team defeated Worcester State University 4-2 in non-conference action at the Canton Ice House.

With the victory, the Colonels improve to 5-6-2 overall on the season, earning their third consecutive win for the first time in program history.

Curry scored the only goal of the first period 13 minutes into the first period on an Ali Olorenshaw (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan) rebound tally. Sophomores Megan Sawatzky (Lemont, Ill.) and Tommi Nash (Point Pleasant, N.J.) assisted on the goal.

The Colonels stretched their lead to two with a Danielle Reid (Plainview, N.Y.) tally five and a half minutes into the second period, but Worcester State scored at the 12:06 mark to cut the deficit to 2-1.

Worcester State scored 12 and a half minutes into the third to knot the score at 2-2, but the tie lasted just 37 seconds before junior captain Grayson Goolgasian (Johnston, R.I.) redirected home the game-winner off an Ava Doyle (Lynnfield, Mass.) point shot that put the Colonels on top for good.
