Women’s Basketball Closes Out Regular Season at Suffolk

BOSTON - Curry College concluded the 2023-2024 regular season with a 76-66 loss to Suffolk University Saturday afternoon in a Commonwealth Coast Conference women's basketball game at Larry E. Smith and Michael S. Smith Court.

Curry came out the gate strong, outscoring the Rams by a score of 23-18 in the first quarter, with seven different Colonels scoring in the period, including juniors Emerson Cherry (Sturbridge, Mass.), Kylie McCarthy (Beverly, Mass.), and freshman Lauren Morse (Holyoke, Mass.) who shot a combined 3-for-4 from behind the three-point line.

The Colonels held onto the lead until midway through the third quarter when a 12-point scoring run gave the home team a lead that would last for the remainder of the game.

Sophomore Olivia Gourdine (Barnstable, Mass.) once again led the Colonels in scoring with 17 points while McCarthy added 13 points, seven rebounds, seven assists, and four blocks. Lauren Dunn (Hanson, Mass.) was another significant offensive contributor with 10 points.

With the loss, the Colonels end the season with an overall record of 7-18 and a conference record of 2-14.
