Women’s Basketball Halted by Hawks

HARTFORD, Conn. - Curry College was defeated 68-62 by the University of Hartford Saturday afternoon in a collegiate women's basketball game at the Chase Arena.

With the loss, the Colonels fall to an overall record of 7-16 and remain 2-12 in conference play.

After a slow first half, the Colonels came out firing in the third quarter, outscoring the Hawks 23-13 in the period and 22-13 in the fourth. The effort nearly brought Curry back from a 30-point deficit, but the Colonels ultimately fell six points short by the final buzzer.

Sophomore Olivia Gourdine (Barnstable, Mass.) jumpstarted the Curry offense, scoring a team-high 17 points while shooting 8-for-12 from the field. Sophomore Lauren Dunn was another major contributor with 14 points, knocking down a three-pointer while shooting 5-for-6 from the free-throw line and grabbing seven rebounds.

Curry College returns to action on Wednesday, February 14th, to host Endicott College beginning at 5:30 p.m.
