Women's Basketball Defeated by UNE

Milton, MA - The Curry Colonels fell to the University of New England Nor'Easters on Tuesday by a final score of 80-61, falling to 7-15 on the season and 2-12 in CCC play. The Nor'Easters are now 16-6 and 11-3.

The Colonels started the game off great, racing out to an 11-6 lead. After UNE grabbed a brief lead of 13-11, the Colonels went on an 8-0 run to grab a 19-13 lead with just under three minutes to go. A Lauren Dunn three pointer at the bfirst quarter buzzer gave the Colonels a 22-15 lead at the quarter break. A Kylie McCarthy three pointer on the first possession of the second quarter extended the lead to 10, but an 8-0 run by the Nor'Easters got them back in it. The teams would trade baskets for a majority of the second quarter, with the Nor'Easters holding a slight 40-36 lead at the half.

A 10-0 run to open the second half gave UNE the momentum and control of the game, and they never looked back, outscoring the Colonels 25-8 in the quarter. Curry would win the fourth quarter 17-15, but it wasn't enough, as they fell 80-61.

The Colonels got great scoring from their starters, led by Olivia Gourdine's 17. Right behind her was Lauren Dunn with 15 and Kasey Reeves with 10. Kylie McCarthy added eight. Gourdine grabbed 10 rebounds for the double-double, her second of the season. Off the bench, Samantha Conti led the team with five assists. McCarthy had three steals.

For the Nor'Easters, Jordyn Frazer scored 18 points, crossing the 1,000 point total for her career.
