Women's Basketball Wins Second Straight Over Wentworth

Milton, MA - The Curry Women's basketball team picked up their second straight win over Wentworth on Thursday, defeating the Leopards 76-56. The Colonels are now 7-11 on the season and 2-8 in CCC play. The Leopards are now 3-12 and 0-9.

The Colonels got out to a scorching start, as they began the game on an 11-0 run over the first three minutes. But a 9-0 run by the Leopards made things close again, and the Colonels led 16-13 after one quarter. The Colonels would extend their lead back out to 13 in the second, using a 10-0 run, the first eight points of which were scored by Lauren Dunn. The Colonels would lead 35-27 at the break.

The second half was more of the same, as the Colonels slowly built their lead up. When the Leopards closed within six, it was once again Dunn who extended the Curry lead back out, this time going on a 6-0 run by herself. From that point forward the lead never got below 10, and the Colonels were able to cruise to a 20 point victory.

The Colonels were led by Lauren Dunn's 26 points on 10-15 shooting. She is now averaging 15.7 points per game, putting her in fifth in the CCC. She also stuffed the stat sheet by adding four rebounds, a rebound, and two steals. Also scoring in double-digits was Kasey Reeves and Samantha Conti, each scoring 10. Emerson Cherry and Jacklyn MacDonald were right behind them, with eight points each. All ten Colonels who played scored. Kylie McCarthy led the team with nine rebounds and four steals.

Up Next - The Colonels will take the court again on Saturday when they travel to Roger Williams for a 1pm game.
