Women's Basktball Overpowered by Golden Bears

MILTON, Mass - Curry College was defeated 57-44 by Western New England University Saturday afternoon in Commonwealth Coast Conference women's basketball action at Dr. Eleanor Meyerhoff Katz Gymnasium.

With the loss, the Colonels drop to an overall record of 4-8 and a conference record of 0-5.

Sophomore Lauren Dunn (Hanson, Mass.) and freshman Sophie Hilbrunner (Waltham, Mass.) combined for 14 of Curry's 17 first half points with a three pointer by Dunn being the Colonels' only field goal in the second quarter.

Curry's best quarter was the third, as Dunn and junior Kylie McCarthy (Beverly, Mass.) combined to score 12 of the Colonels 20 points. Freshman Samantha Conti (Woodbury, Conn.) scored four points off the bench in the quarter.

Dunn led Curry with a game-high 15 points while Hilbrunner scored nine and led all players with eight rebounds.

Curry College returns to action on Tuesday, January 9th, in a road contest against Gordon beginning at 5:30 p.m.
